Job Description
PURPOSE OF ROLE
The focus of this role will be the design, maintenance and programming of computer systems. This role specifically provides application support and advises on application usage, selection and problem resolution.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the delivery of in house developed and hosted technical solutions, ensuring system security, availability and performance.
- Work with the Development Team on major issues, problem resolution and improvements.
- Developing and supporting Microsoft applications (Sharepoint, MS Access, VBA) and Data Analytical tools (Alterian, Aptico,SAS etc.).
- Engagement of suppliers at appropriate stages of service negotiation to ensure applications and the support provided are fit for purpose
- Member of the on-call support team.
KEY TASKS
- Develops and implements methods and procedures for process control/improvements and testing to ensure products/systems are free of flaws and function as designed.
- Designs, tests and implements products or systems.
- Solves a range of straightforward problems.
- Analyses possible solutions using standard procedures.
- Have exposure to, and the option to become experienced with an array of existing technologies.
- Maintains team processes and procedures.
- Provides input into technical design documents/design/ implementation.
- Adhere to department procedures and best practices
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
Essential:
- Either hold or have the ability to become Microsoft Certified (MCAD) or (MCSD)
Desirable:
- Educated to degree level in IT or numerical based degree
- ITIL Foundation certification
EXPERIENCE
Essential:
- Demonstrable experience within a service driven environment
- Experience of supporting .NET (C# or C++), COM+ applications
- Experience of SQL, database design and query construction
- A working knowledge of a broad range of infrastructure architecture technologies and principles
- Experience of using analysis tools
