DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR (BIGDATA)

Strategic Staffing Solutions International client, a renowned software development company and one of the best employers in the country, is growing its operations and looking for:

DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR (BIGDATA)

The key focus of this role is on Big data infrastructure and Hadoop administration, operations, maintenance, performance and capacity.

Main responsibilities:
• Work with external service providers/vendor support for troubleshooting;
• Work with teams across the business to understand how the Hadoop Platform can enhance what is currently in place;
• Focus on process automation and documentation of processes and troubleshooting guides;
• Manage Hadoop clusters in development and production environments;
• Install, configure and maintain multiple Hadoop Clusters;
• Install new software releases, system upgrades, patches, and evaluation of stability for Hadoop Instances;
• Tuning of servers, applications and Hadoop Infrastructure;
• Administrating system backups and recovery;
• Applying HA & DR best practices.

• 4 + Years’ experience in DevOps or Database Administration role;
• Comprehensive experience with SQL queries on HBASE and HIVE DB;
• Proven experience with BigData platforms, preferably Hadoop Distribution (Cloudera, Hortonworks, MapR);
• Practical experience in monitoring and tuning of BigData platforms , preferably in Hadoop;
• Working knowledge of Cloudera proprietary tools such as Cloudera Manager and Cloudera Navigator;
• Knowledge of the Hadoop Platform Internals (e.g. HDFS, Ambari, YARN, IMPALA, Apache, Pig, Hive DB, Oozie or Zookeeper);
• Bachelor’s Degree in IT or equivalent.
