Summary: The U.S. Mission in Vilnius, Lithuania is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Security Assistant. Work Hours: Full-time (40 hours/week) Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time (4 weeks) of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end. DUTIES
  • Position reports to the Force Protection Detachment (FPD) Special Agent in Charge (SAIC) and performs responsibilities delegated to Post's Foreign Service National Investigator (FSNI) Program. Carries out liaison functions with government and military officials from Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. Serves as a translator and advisor to the FPD on matters pertaining to security, military issues, language, culture and politics. Conducts investigations related to potential criminal incidents and security threats affecting U.S. Military personnel and activities. Carries out suitability investigations in support of U.S. Military activities and assists with coordination of VIP protection operations.
  • Requirements

  • EDUCATION: University degree in law, law enforcement or equivalent is required.
  • EXPERIENCE: A minimum of four years progressively responsible experience in law enforcement, counterintelligence, investigation or surveillance with a military or police organization with a background in management principles is required.
  • JOB KNOWLEDGE: Incumbent must be familiar with the military, police and security structures in the Baltic States; must develop and maintain close relationships with the military and security services; familiar with government criminal and civil procedures, judicial systems; customs & culture; familiar with basic physical and procedural security concepts and familiar with local traffic laws.
  • LANGUAGE: Level 4 (fluent) of English and Lithuanian (reading/writing/speaking). Level III of Russian is required. (This may be tested.)
  • SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must have a valid local driver’s license upon hire.
