Job Description

Basic Function of the Position:

The incumbent is responsible for day-to-day LAN operations and the installation, modification, maintenance, and management of operating systems, hardware and software. The incumbent maintains the complex LAN composed of multiple operating systems, Commercial and Department developed applications as well as various peripherals such as printers, scanners, PKI infrastructure, digital senders, etc. The incumbent’s daily work requires frequent installation of additional or replacement hardware and software, monitoring telecommunications circuitry and user support.

Requirements

  • EXPERIENCE: Requires two years experience in computer systems with at least one year of progressively responsible experience in information systems management, with a good grasp of the current or forthcoming Department’s standard Operating Systems (OS), work processing and flow applications and E-Mail systems. JOB KNOWLEDGE: Good knowledge of the capabilities and limitations of the computer equipment and software. Position also requires knowledge of computer systems management sufficient to assure the continued effective operation of a computer installation designed to provide support to the embassy or to provide for transmission of text and data files by telecommunications.
  • Education Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in the field of computer science or information systems management.
  • LANGUAGE: Level III (good working knowledge) of English. Fluent Lithuanian required for training and instructional purposes. SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Good technical skills to trouble-shoot, diagnose, and resolve hardware and software problems and to maximize the capabilities of the organization’s computer resources. Good interpersonal skills to develop and maintain two-way communications and promote computer and automation services.
