Job Description

  • You are a partner to and support all the functions in the store to enable them to improve their performance
  • Responsible to secure that the store has adequate financial and administrative routines in place so that the management, business steering and follow up processes of all departments in the store works and that the store adheres to the legal rules in the country regarding accounting and bookkeeping
  • You support the total store by having full responsibility of the economic / financial transactions in the store
  • You are responsible to secure that the store has well documented store operating procedures in place to secure stable and consistent clarity in division of responsibility between departments over time
  • That the financial reporting process works and that all managers in the store that have budget responsibility are provided with financial and KPI follow up reports on a weekly and monthly basis so they can steer their business towards agreed upon goals
  • You lead the budgeting and goal setting process and secure that all managers with budget responsibility receive clearly documented goals and that they receive training in how to read financial reports so they understand and can carry their responsibility
  • You are the expert in the store regarding economic and financial analysis of store and department performance
  • You are responsible for safety and security in the total store
  • Main tasks:
  • You secure that the store reach the financial goals set by the Retail Manager in the Service Office by coaching all managers in the store
  • You drive and develop the businessmanship in the whole organisation and proactively seek out new potentials or working methods to improve profitability on short and long term
  • You provide all managers with budget responsibility with weekly and monthly financial and KPI follow up reports so they can follow up on their performance and take proactive actions to reach their goals. If the reports show deviations from budget/plan you actively coach the responsible manager to make sure that there are action plans developed to steer the business back towards agreed goals
  • Lead the budget and goal setting process in the store
  • Lead the work in securing that all departments have well documented store operating procedures so that the division of responsibility between departments is clear and that work is performed in an efficient way
  • You benchmark the store and department performance towards comparable stores to identify areas of improvement and communicate regularly with all managers in the store
  • You lead the staff planning process in the total store to secure that the staffing levels of the store are optimised in order to match the visitor flows, goods flows and customer flows
  • You are the expert in setting up all legal contracts with all external business partners to the store
  • You secure that there are SuperUsers appointed for all IT systems used in the store and that there are clear training plans in place and succession plans for these roles
  • You lead the safety and security work in securing a safe environment for both customers and co workers
  • You prepare all investment requests for decision by store board
  • If there are fraud cases or any type of activity related to economic misconduct you lead the investigation and prepare all case related material to see through that these cases are resolved
  • You are manager of the following departments:

- Accounting & controlling

- Property maintenance and cleaning

- Recovery

- Safety and security

You recruit, train, set goals for and evaluate performance of your team

Requirements

General retailing experience

  • Must have a minimum of 5-7 years retail management experience, finance & accounting experience preferred.
  • Must have strong analytical and tactical planning abilities
  • Must have a highly developed understanding of retail operations
  • Must have an interest in home furnishings
  • Must have advanced computer skills

Communication skills

  • Must have excellent Communication skills
  • Must be able to share their knowledge and learning
  • Must have the ability to build working relationships
  • Must be able to speak and understand English

Leadership skills

  • Must have excellent training skills
  • Must have proven leadership abilities and lead by example
  • Must have the ability to bring out the best in co workers and to motivate and develop the organisation

Other

  • The Operations Manager for an IKEA store means having management responsibility for a group of various competencies as well as working with all managers in the store. This is a big challenge and requires management experience
  • A university degree in Business Administration is normally regarded as a qualifier for this position and/or several years of experience in a similar role
