Navigation and manoeuvring
Assisting the Captain in taking care of the ship and all persons onboard
Assisting the Captain in taking care of safety and the performance of regulations stipulated by law
Alcohol is not permitted during working hours
The use of alcohol should be limited to such a degree that the Steersman is potentially available 24 hours a day during which full responsibility can be assumed
Daily maintenance and cleaning of the ship
Daily control relating to maintenance and cleaning of the ship
Controlling whether the ship’s inventory is well-maintained and cleaned
Reporting technical defects to the captain and attempting to rectify these
The careful use and maintenance of materials provided by the company
Overseeing order, tidiness and hygiene on board

Requirements

Motivating and supervising fellow personnel in compliance with company guidelines
Supervising the duties of Nautical Services
Taking own initiative with regard to assisting colleagues
Supervising the wearing of correct clothing and the external appearance of personnel in compliance with guidelines specified by the company
