How will you make an impact?

The successful candidate will be a hands-on organic chemist who enjoys working in a multidisciplinary environment. They will focus on the chemistry of lipids, polymers and peptides used for the delivery of macromolecules in vivo and ex vivo. They will work on the development of new products having applications in transfection of nucleic acids (DNA, mRNA), protein delivery, protein expression and cell culture.

 

What will you do?

  • Independently design and complete multi-step syntheses in diverse areas of organic chemistry
  • Develop analytical and purification methods and characterize large and small molecules intended for cell and molecular biology applications.
  • Develop and scale up new synthetic processes, and optimize existing ones
  • Prepare conditions for technology transfer from R&D to manufacturing and other departments as appropriate and contribute to the drafting of relevant documentation.
  • Author technical reports and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Maintain accurate lab notebooks and training files in accordance with relevant Thermo Fisher required standards to support innovation and patent application as well as other international standards (e.g., ISO compliance, GLP/GMP requirements, etc.).
  • Prepare and present experimental data summaries, author scientific documents for patents or articles for publication in peer reviewed journals and make contributions to conferences.

Reikalavimai

 

  • MS (with experience) or Ph.D. (with of experience) in organic chemistry or equivalent Degree
  • A solid experience in Organic Chemistry with a specific focus on lipid and polymer chemistry applied to the delivery of macromolecules.
  • A basic knowledge of lipid and polymer formulation techniques is desirable.
  • A solid knowledge and experience operating and interpreting data of the most common analytical techniques such as HPLC, LC/MS, NMR (1D, 2D, 13C), UV-Visible, Fluorescence, FTIR is required.
  • A solid experience in the development of multi-step organic processes and scale up gained in an industrial setting.
  • A demonstrated expertise in chromatography-based purification (automated flash and preparative HPLC). Must be capable of adopting new methods of purification and analyses as the need arises.
  • Experience in the development and validation of analytical methods and knowledge of relevant guidelines.
  • Experience drafting synthetic procedures, standard operating procedures, and other regulatory documents
  • Proficiency in literature search and knowledge of cGMP regulations

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Must demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills,
  • Must enjoy working with scientists engaged in research and development of products in the forefront of cell and molecular biology,
  • Must be able to manage involvement in several projects simultaneously,
  • Computer literacy comprises the use of windows suite (word, Excel, Power point, …), molecule drawing software, and statistics software for design of experiment (DOE) is required (Jump, Stat-Ease, Mini-Tab).
