Job Description

Responsibilities:

• Maintain the Core Software applications life-cycle, from evaluation to retirement
  
• Configure and Package Core Software-owned products
  
• Work with Desktop Support, application developers and other Engineering teams on Core Application Issues
  
• Develop and update add-ins and utilities (C#, VB.NET, Powershell, vbscript, etc.)
  
• Evaluate new products and services
  

Key accountabilities and approximate time split:
Product Life-cycle Management (50%)

• Ensure the Core Software products are at the latest supported version for all of the company.
  
• Ensure consistency with versions across the estate.
  
• Work closely with Packaging, Support, Dev and other stakeholder to package Core Software products and make them ready for production.
  
• Perform regular review of Core Software products and competing products to evaluate if they are a better solution for the company.
  

Escalation Support (25%)

• Take ownership of and assist in resolving Core Software issues escalated to the team from Support, App Dev, and other IT teams.
  

Scripting Development (15%)
Market and Vendor Engagement (10%)

• Monitor technology trends, innovations and key standards bodies for their application to the company bringing these to the attention of
  

lead architect.

• Engage with existing strategic Core Software to the Bank and industry leaders to understand and shape vendor technology strategies in
  

respect of Core Software Products.

• Identify & assess opportunities for technology innovation working with other functions within GISD
  
• Provide advice to management and business Clusters on the strategic application of technology.
  
• Assist Sourcing & Vendor Management, ensuring that vendor negotiations are informed of market and technology trends and that sourcing
  

agreements align to the company’s technology strategy.

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  
• Strong knowledge of Citrix environment, installations and application management
  
• Strong knowledge of the desktop common operating environment
  
• Strong knowledge of Web Browsers (IE, Firefox, Chrome, Safari, etc.)
  
• In-depth knowledge of Windows

• Packaging - the basics of installing / removing packages using MSIs, etc
