ED Medical Coder

Position summary: The Coding Resource will perform account medical coding activates for Emergency Services based on the information provided in the patient care report (PCR). The position will report to the Emergency Department Coding Team Lead.

Responsibilities
• Consistently and accurately assign the appropriate Current Procedural Terminology codes to each chart according to Intermedix coding philosophies and guidelines.
- Evaluation and Management Codes.
- All other Current Procedural Terminology codes such as procedural services, critical care, and observation codes to each chart according to Intermedix coding philosophies and guidelines.
- Other miscellaneous and/or “tracker” codes.
• Accurately understanding and applying client manual information to daily assignments.
• Assist with processing in departments other than coding as directed by management.
• Communicate trends and opportunities for improvement to management.
• Perform any other special projects or assignments in a timely and accurate manner, as assigned.
• Meet routine deadlines and work schedules as well as timely and accurate completion of special projects and assignments.
• Understand, support, enforce and comply with company policies, procedures and standards of business ethics and conduct.
• Display a positive attitude as well as professional, polite, considerate and courteous conduct and treatment of others in the course of duties.
• Ensure compliance with all company confidentiality policies including patient information, client information and team member information encountered while performing job duties.

• Bilingual Lithuanian and English.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Experience in International Classification of Disease (ICD) version 10 is preferred.
• Knowledge of applicable healthcare data privacy practices and laws is preferred.
• Basic computer operating skills.
• Excellent listening and interpersonal skills.
• Logical and efficient, with keen attention to detail.
• Highly self-motivated and directed.
• Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
• Excellent computer literacy skills.
