Job Description

Assuming responsibility for the ship’s inventory with regard to technical material, equipment
and fixtures and fittings
Assisting the Captain in taking responsibility for the ship and all persons onboard
Assisting the Captain in taking responsibility for safety and the performance of regulations stipulated by law
Alcohol is not permitted during working hours
The use of alcohol should be limited to such a degree that the Engineer is potentially available 24 hours a day during which full responsibility can be assumed
Daily maintenance and cleaning of the ship
Mooring, navigating locks and operating the gangplank
Daily maintenance in the engine room
During lunch and dinner checking the repair logbook and carrying out (cabin) repairs
Motivating and supervising fellow personnel in compliance with company
guidelines
Reporting technical defects to the Captain and attempting to rectify these
The careful use and maintenance of materials provided by the company
Controlling the stock of bulbs, filters, paint, etc.
Making orders
Requirements
Consulting in cases of doubt or discovery of irregularities
Immediate reporting of any defects to the Captain
Strict compliance with the specified standards with regard to work clothes, ensuring that these are clean and intact
Answering any questions from guests and/or colleagues politely and correctly
Assisting with embarkation and disembarkation of guests
Assisting with provisions (store)
