Head of Linux&Unix Department

My name is Giedrius Staskunas and I am leading IT service management unit within Telia Lithuania organization. We are 200+ professionals IT Unit providing full stack of IT infrastructure services for Telia Lithuania and our business customers across the Baltics. Currently I am looking for Head of Linux & Unix to join our unit.

Linux & Unix department is 40+ IT professionals who are primarily responsible for providing webhosting, video streaming, Managed OS Linux (Various OS distributions: Red Hat, CentOS, HP-UX, Ubuntu, Debian, Oracle Linux, SLES, Solaris), Managed DB Oracle, Managed SAP Basis services as well as supporting dedicated customers IT infrastructure taking care of server maintenance, daily operations, automation, solution architecture and solutions delivery. In unit’s responsibility we have more than 3000 servers dedicated for Telia internal services as well as for our business customers.

You as a leader will be responsible for

• Bringing the right people in to drive actions and results. Identifying, coaching and developing people to enable them grow and perform at their best. Creating an engaging team atmosphere and inspiring people. Setting ambitious goals, creating clear accountability for action and removing barriers that prevent people from succeeding.

• Arrange units work to ensure delivery of IT services to end customers. Operational responsibility of services within units scope, cost management of services in scope , ITIL processes, ISO certification, audits and policies etc.

• Definition, development, and assurance of SLI, SLO, OLA and service level agreements with other business units and business customers. Reporting on IT service quality.

• Ensure lifecycle of all technical platforms and solutions within unit’s responsibility including architecture, technical roadmaps, investments, daily operations, resource, and competence, TCO and etc

• Managing of IT partner and vendor relations. Negotiation of supply and support contracts, tenders, procurement.

• Managing expectations, objectives and demands of stakeholders, conflicts, recourse needs, follow up KPIs, feedback, cross team collaboration improvements, future needs, way of working, etc.

• Plan, monitor and follow-up departments investments and Operational expenses

• Excellent coaching, communication, mentoring and change management skills​

• Understanding large scale IT operations with high demands on stability and security​

• Dare to challenge the current “as-is” state, stress to simplify the complexity and constant seek for automation

• Motivation to care for our employees, stakeholders and customers​

Your experience:

• In depth knowledge and experience of IT infrastructure including Servers, Unix/Linux platforms, networking, virtualization technologies

• ITIL knowledge

• Proven experience of support process automation

• Good understanding of IT architecture principles

• Experience with public clouds (AWS, Azure) would be strong advantage

• Experience building and providing IT services for external business customers would be strong advantage

• Leadership experience – manager of mangers with business/technology line responsibility

• Experience in forming high performing teams

• Relevant University degree​.
