Job Description
The job of the Inclusive Education Teaching Assistant is established for the purpose(s) of working with individual and/or small groups of student(s) under the direction of a certificated classroom teacher and/or Inclusive Education teacher in the supervision and instruction of students with an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) or an Accommodations Awareness Plan (AAP).
RESPONSIBILITIES/TASKS
- Assist students by modeling the necessary skills to perform assignments. Provide support to children with reading, writing or elementary math on an individual, class or small group basis.
- Follow specific educational and/or behavioral plans, modeling appropriate behaviors and interactions with students and staff.
- Assist students by providing for any special health care needs, as determined on an individual basis.
- Perform related duties as required (assignments including classroom support, lunchroom, playgrounds etc.).
- Help with School events, trips and activities.
- Attend meetings and reviews.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in psychology or special education.
- Fluent English (other language as an advantage).
- Previous experience of working with students with special needs.
- The ability to work effectively with students, teachers, administrators, parents and community members.
