Mainframe QA Engineer

Rocket Software opening development center in Vilnius and plans to hire more than 200 engineers and programmers in Lithuania in the next 2-3 years.

For this role, Rocket is looking for a QA Engineer to join our OMEGAMON products development team. You will be helping to modernize this mission critical product which assures the operation of hundreds of installations all over the world.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Work with the team in a fast-paced environment and work on one or more assigned tasks simultaneously.
• Design, develop, modify, and execute complete test plans based on product specifications.
• Responsible for automating and maintaining test cases for multiple features or modules.
• Observe and record defects in software products while analyzing failures through automated or manual test execution.
• Prove coverage analysis and proactively adjust testing to improve test coverage.
• Cooperate with members in different time zones and other companies, along with internal customers developing commercial applications on top of the platform.
• Communicate with customers and investigate their issues.
• Upgrade your technical skills with the changing technologies.

• 2+ years of related experience; or an advanced degree without experience; or equivalent work experience.
• Test automation experience
• Mainframe experience or experience with Python automation
• Fluent in English

Preferred Qualifications:

• Should have strong knowledge in JCL, Job Parameters. Understand the process and control flow of a job.
• Should be capable of identifying critical JCL and System messages and devise troubleshooting strategy.
• Should have demonstrated strong DB2 knowledge and possess experience in managing DB2 objects and executing DB2 utilities.
• Understanding of DFSMS TAPE and DASD
• Understanding of DB2 Admin concepts
• Understanding of VSAM Structure Concepts
• Knowledge of IBM utilities
• Previous experience working on z/OS based software components
• Jenkins and GIT or GitHUB experience

• Mainframe knowledge: z/OS, SMP/e, ISPF, batch processing
