Job Description

Our team of engineers at Virtustream work to design, build and operate an infrastructure-as-a-service cloud for some of the biggest companies in the world. Our team is looking for individuals to help create the foundation for a distributed, API driven micro-service platform to automate our global IaaS and supporting services.

The Infrastructure team is focused on the lifecycle management of devices – deploy, update, maintain and securely retire. Our mission is to develop automation and monitoring to enable massive IaaS scaling for hardware devices while still actively managing and monitoring those devices. We manage compute servers, storage arrays, storage fabric and PDUs, relying on automation and orchestration tools to interact with vendor and open source APIs for those devices. We monitor the devices that we manage using both built-in notifications and open source tools. We also maintain and interact with multiple databases to discover and/or track configuration information.

Responsibilities include
• Develop new components and features for our frontend app(s)
• Write, audit, and improve our test coverage
• Document and refactor our frontend codebase
• Participate in UI/UX design decisions and user conversations
• Maintaining automated test suites using CI/CD tools
• Participate in collaborative projects with site reliability engineering teams
• Develop automation, processes, and tools designed to make our services simpler and more robust
• Participate in troubleshooting, planning and performance analysis activities

Requirements

• 2+ years’ experience working with a Javascript framework, preferably React
• In-depth understanding of Javascript, the DOM, and relevant concepts
• Proficiency with browser based debugging and performance testing
• Experience with a testing framework
• Experience working in collaborative coding environments (peer review, continuous integration, etc)
• Creativity, initiative and acute attention to detail
• A thirst for innovation and solving problems at lightning speed
• Passion for automating everything repetitive

Preferred Skills
• Experience with API-driven micro-services that combine into large and complex platforms
• One year of experience with Linux/Unix development or systems administration
• Experience working in distributed, remote teams across multiple time zones
• BA/BS in Computer Science preferred, or equivalent experience
