Job Description

To provide database administration support, namely:

• create and maintain databases and database services
  
• resolve database incidents to restore service
  
• deploy database changes to test and production environments
  
• monitor and maintain daily operational database tasks
  

Responsibilities:
The Operational Database Administrator role will provide vital 2nd Line Database Administration services for the Company.
Focused on supporting SQL Server Databases and database applications, the key tasks will feature:

• Create and maintain test and production databases
  
• Resolve errors and restore service for the databases supporting Callcredit’s developed and hosted applications.
  
• Deploy updates and database releases into Test and Live Production
  
• Apply SQL Server Service Packs and maintenance updates
  
• Ensure Database backups are taken as per business requirements
  
• Maintain and develop the Support knowledge base
  
• Monitor and provide data to the management team on database usage, performance, capacity and availability
  
• Swift resolution of database related live service issues
  
• Design and suggest improvements in database design and performance
  
• Reduction in the number of repeated database issues raised
  
• Increase in the number of first time fixes passed to Service Desk and/or technical operator teams

Requirements

• Microsoft SQL Server Databases background
  
• Implementing and supporting SQL Server databases (both SQL Server 2005 & 2008)
  
• SQL Server Performance diagnostics
  
• SQL Server monitoring tools
  
• Analyse incidents to identify appropriate workarounds
  
• Problem solving skills to identify root cause and permanent fix.
  
• Communication skills to all levels including management
  
• Excellent documentation skills
  
• Follow processes well
  
• Self organizer
  
• Good Numerical Skills
