Job Description
Reporting to SQL Data Manager, SQL Server Data Analysts focus on the development of applications alongside the VB.NET developers for use by the research department and our associates in the field. Primarily this centres around the EMMA application through which researchers record their findings for final publication in our successful business information websites (IMIS). Remit however can extend beyond this area into developing other solutions as needed across the company.
Requirements
1. IT/software skills:
- Proficiency in SQL Server 2000 and/or 2005 (Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio).
- Knowledge of relational database theory is integral to the role.
- Demonstrable experience of analysing data using T-SQL’s Data Manipulation language (DML).
- Compiling of store procedures.
- Understanding of execution plans and the use of indexes in performance tuning.
2. Other skills:
- Ability to work under pressure and potentially multi-task to meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills (good English essential).
- Good administrative and organisational skills
- Self-motivation and drive to take on personal responsibility
- Attention to detail with a high level of numeracy.
- Experience in developing and maintaining database documentation e.g. data dictionaries.
- While not essential familiarity with SQL Server 2005 Integration Services would be advantageous.
- While not essential familiarity with SQL Server 2005 Reporting services would be advantageous.
