Responsibilities and Tasks
The goal of this Project Management track is to obtain a deep understanding of the full value chain of Vestas from product development through production to customer installations. You will gain insight into the challenges Vestas is facing within the Wind industry as well as develop a deep business understanding of the challenges as project manager. During the 2 years you will gain insights that will strengthen your excellence as a project manager within Vestas. After the Graduate Programme, you will be an attractive candidate for working in Project Management within one of Vestas’ business units around the world.
Vestas Technology – Power Plant Operations / Continuous Improvement Management – Beijing, China
Continuous Improvement Management (CIM) China is working with the operational phase of the Vestas value chain and resolves CIM cases and serious incidents which happen on the customer sites, when a wind turbine has produced at least 1 kW. It is the responsibility of CIM to find the root cause of a problem and find the solutions to solve the problem. Furthermore, CIM develops a financial overview so that the financial benefits are clear to Vestas and the customer. Through upgrade solutions, CIM ensures enhanced safety, performance and operation. The primary CIM stakeholders are the Sales Business Units and thereby Vestas customers. However, many other employees in the organisation depend on information regarding CIM projects.
As a Graduate in CIM you will have the overall responsibility for projects being proceeded (according to the CIM process) and you will be responsible for obtaining the optimum case solution for Vestas with respect to delivery date, quality of technical solution and budgeting/finance.
Vestas Northern Europe – Construction – Warrington, United Kingdom
On Hand Over from Sales, Construction is responsible for delivering wind farm projects safely according to the required quality, time and budget. Included within this scope is the transport for Wind Turbine Generator (WTG) components from Production Business Unit to site, erection of WTG’s, commissioning, acceptance testing and finally handover to the Customer. The department is also responsible for support to Sales during the sales phase providing programmes, advice on wind farm civil works estimates and reviewing and commenting on employers requirements.
As a Graduate in Construction you will gain an understanding of logistics for transporting WTG components, the on-site civil requirements to transport and erect WTG’s and knowledge of equipment, commercial administration of standard forms of contract, sub-contractor management, development and leading of multi-function teams both internal & external, setting and managing project budgets, risk analysis, review and control, customer management. You will be working with Project Managers in both the sales phases and execution phases of projects and you will be assigned scope of works to deliver for each project. Your role will be similar to an Assistant Project Manager and you will be involved in customer meetings as well as internal project team meetings.
Vestas Technology – Project Management Office – Aarhus, Denmark
The Engineering department in Technology R&D serves the purpose of addressing relevant market segments with appropriate wind power plant products while consistently reducing Cost of Energy through effective implementation of technologies throughout the product lifecycle. The Project Management Office is responsible for program/project Portfolio Management in the Engineering department including resource management, estimation of new programs, scope management and follow up on progress as well as in developing project management processes, tools and skills.
As a Graduate in Project Management you will obtain a deep understanding of the full value chain of Vestas from product development through production to customer installations. You will gain insight into the challenges Vestas is facing within the Wind industry as well as getting a deep business understanding of the challenges as project manager. Through your role as Assistant Project Manager you will work on tasks and projects that deal with product development and process improvement, follow up on project reporting, support in resource management, and also with workshop preparations
The listed departments have all signed up for a two year term, and will each host three Graduates for eight months assignments. However, the wind industry is dynamic and things may change. Locations may be replaced based on the needs of the business but your learning opportunities will remain our top priority. You will not be able to replace assignments on your own initiative.
You have recently graduated or will soon graduate with a relevant Master’s Degree within engineering or a combination of business and engineering.
With your impressive and international profile, you combine practical understanding with strong business acumen and excellent analytical and conceptual skills. As we expect our Graduates to quickly find their feet in various organizational settings and deliver consistent outstanding performance, we expect you to already have one year of relevant experience from either internships or regular full-time employment.
