Job Description

Responsibilities and Tasks
The goal of the Supply Chain Management track is for the graduate to obtain a 360 understanding of the logistical landscape within Vestas. You will gain this insight by acquiring hands-on experience in: Supply Chain Management in a Production Business Unit, Wind Turbine construction in a Sales Business Unit and Transport within the Vestas Group.

The track will focus on developing business oriented Supply chain and logistics candidates, who will strengthen the logistical excellence and performance management culture of Vestas. After the Graduate Programme, Graduates will be attractive candidates for working in one of Vestas SCM or Transport departments around the world.

Vestas Blades - Supply Chain Management – Lem, Denmark
Supply Chain Management (SCM) at the global headquarter of Vestas Blades is responsible for ensuring compliance to the global production plans at the most competitive cost possible. The department focuses on a continuous development of the supply chain by securing supply of parts from cost competitive suppliers at the right quality level. SCM is responsible for all contracts with global suppliers to Blades and the function consists of; Sourcing, Supplier Quality & Development and Logistics & Planning as well as the supply Chain Performance department which monitors that we are on track of our plans.

As a Graduate you could be involved in improvement projects within cost and delivery improvement or you could join a category team to work on Supplier Quality. You will internally work with all stakeholders on a global level including our factories, Sourcing, Logistics, Quality and Production. Outside BU - Blades Technology and suppliers will be some of the main contacts.

Vestas Americas – Construction / Project Portfolio Management – Portland, USA
The Construction Department is grouped under the Operations Department and is responsible for the management of the installation and commissioning of the WTGs (Wind Turbine Generators). The Project Portfolio Management group is getting involved during the sales phase reviewing contracts and giving advice in execution issues. The accountability of the Project Managers for the project starts with the handover from the Sales Department to Construction. The Project Managers are accountable for the scope execution within schedule and budget, with keeping the Vestas staff (and others at site) safe and getting the WTGs installed according to quality standards.

As a Graduate in the Project Portfolio Management you will gain insight into Project Execution as a whole as well as technical knowledge on how to transport, install and commission a WTG. Depending on qualifications and experience, as well as business needs at the time, potential roles could be: Assistant construction controller for assigned supply projects; team lead for internal strategy projects, or project manager for construction business improvement or business performance initiatives.

Vestas Group – Group Transport – Aarhus, Denmark
Group Transport is responsible for all transport inbound and between our suppliers and factories. We are also responsible for Customs compliance, Transport development, Supply Chain management (supplier selection and negotiation) and for Transport strategy and implementation on Group level. Group Transport is the Business Process Owner (BPO) for all transport processes in Vestas

As a Graduate in this department you will gain knowledge of both general transport (in-gauge) as well as world wide project transportation to our customers. You will work internally with stakeholders at all levels as well as working with the department heads on contract management and negotiation with our transport suppliers. Possible assignments could include becoming a Project team member on our global and regional tender and negotiation process or Project manager for projects within Global transport such as new system set-up, flow analysis of certain transport and goods lanes, sourcing selection projects together with category managers and external suppliers.

The listed departments have all signed up for a two year term, and will each host three Graduates for eight month assignments. However, the wind industry is dynamic and things may change. Locations may be replaced based on the needs of the business but your learning opportunities will remain our top priority. You will not be able to replace assignments on your own initiative.


Requirements

You have recently graduated or will soon graduate with a Master’s Degree within Logistics, Engineering, Business Administration or similar with a Supply Chain focus.

With your impressive and international profile, you combine practical understanding with strong business acumen and excellent analytical and conceptual skills. As we expect our Graduates to quickly find their feet in various organizational settings and deliver consistent outstanding performance, we expect you to already have one year of relevant experience from either internships or regular full-time employment.

In addition we are looking for the following personal attributes:

You appreciate working within a fast-paced and changeable environment and you integrate well into a team setting
Your high drive is evident from your accomplishments and you demonstrate a persistent and proactive approach to challenges ahead
Independently, you identify need for improvements and gain support from relevant stakeholders to make change happen
Your communication is clear and concise, including appropriate adaption to cultural diversity
You show high awareness of your strengths and development opportunities, seek feedback and actively work towards advancing your competence
Preferably, you have international experience from work, internship or stays abroad. You are looking for an international career both now and in the years to come
You are fluent in both spoken and written English.

Additional information

The Vestas Graduate Team M12 will start 1st of March 2012.

You can apply for areas which include at least one assignment in a country where you hold a valid permanent work permit or resident status. You will be starting your Graduate career in the country where you already hold a valid permanent work permit or resident status, and Vestas will help you obtain the necessary visas for your 2nd and 3rd assignments.

Applicants, who hold a permanent EU residence status, are eligible to apply to all Tracks that include a module in the EU.

Transcripts showing your Bachelor’s and Master’s degree results. If you have not yet finished your Master’s degree, please attach the results you have obtained so far.
