Job Description

As Operational Forwarding Specialist at Ahlers (www.ahlers.com) you will be part of an operational team working on international projects. Ahlers offers her customers logistics solutions which go beyond bringing goods from supplier to recipient. We manage the supply chain needs in all geographical corners, which means that you will manage and/or coordinate with your partners and colleagues the transport, customs clearance, warehousing, order to cash, reporting and other activities necessary for the project of your customers.

Key functional duties

  • Act as operational representative of Ahlers Lithuania towards assigned global customers, colleagues and partners. Communicate, collect and check information needed for the organization of various types and routes of transport;
  • Perform assigned operational activities, for example;
    • Booking & Coordination of Transport (multimodal or single mode of transport);
    • Prepare and check Transport, Cargo & Customs Documents (CMR, BoL, Invoice, Packing Lists, Certificates, T1, EXW1 etc.). Ensure compliancy and smooth transit of transport;
    • Register project data in various Transport Management Systems (i.e. Alaska, Logismart etc.);
    • Coordinate invoicing-process with customers and partners;
    • Provide regular status reports of the shipments for stakeholders;
  • Become part of an international team within assigned Business Unit Trade Facilitation & After Sales Services and actively provide ideas and solutions to improve the services performed for our customers;
  • Work in a team of internal- & external stakeholders. Construct, instruct and follow the operational procedures with colleagues and partners to ensure high quality service performance;


Key Competencies

  • Preferred experience of 2+ years as operational specialist in logistics industry;
  • Basic understanding of Supply Chain management with a focus on forwarding, warehousing and customs clearance;
  • Strong analytical skills and capability to check and correct detailed documents to ensure compliance;
  • Accurate registration of project details into Transport Management Systems and timely communication with partners and customers to provide status updates;
  • Relationship Management skills to collect required information from internal- & external stakeholders and to coordinate bookings with various suppliers.

Specific Skills

  • Experienced MS office user of basic software (Outlook, Excel, Word etc.)
  • Experienced TMS user (Knowledge Logismart and/or Alaska is a plus)
  • Experienced Trade/Accounting program user (Knowledge Finvalda is a plus)
  • Knowledge of English& Russian at Upper-Intermediate level (B1 or higher)
  • Knowledge of Lithuanian is a plus Knowledge of Lithuanian is a plus
