Job Description
World Courier needs an experienced, cost-conscious Procurement Manager to take over our purchasing operations. We’re looking for a product-savvy professional who has general experience (not specialized in any one area) and who can institute innovative policies to save the company money and improve our value achieved from procured services. You will need to be self-reliant as the role will not be part of a Procurement team. The scope of this role is Global.
Ensures containment of costs by managing spend including implementation of effective analysis to ensure purchases are in line with demand. Recommends and executes strategies in relation to purchasing contracts, programs and agreements resulting in increased value for World Courier. Operates as the primary purchasing contact and maintains good relationships with suppliers to ensure a productive partnership.
World Courier has not had a dedicated Procurement role before so a lot of work setting up process will be involved. However this creates a unique opportunity to make a significant difference in a high growth business.
Responsibilities:
- Will focus on specific large projects initially – such as packaging, telecoms, office supplies managing projects from inception to actual implementation and then measuring actual savings versus predicted savings.
- Coordinates regular program meetings to discuss Procurement priorities.
- Partners closely with Regions and Functions on Procurement initiatives.
- Responsible for product sourcing to support Program and Quality requirements.
- Partners with suppliers and acts as an advocate for World Courier interests relative to suppliers' actions and policies.
- Develops management reporting in line with requests.
- Develops new solutions to various tactical challenges World Courier faces as it relates to procuring product, supplier and distribution relations.
- Builds and maintains relationships with Suppliers, to achieve and maintain the established Service Level objective.
- Manages several contracts, programs and supplier agreements resulting in increased value for both World Courier and its customers.
- Ability to resolve issues independently.
- Performs work that is varied and that may be somewhat difficult in character.
- Develops and executes strategic decisions to find solutions to increase World Courier profitability.
- Responsible for producing procurement related reports and statistical analysis.
- Responsible for the creation of vendor scorecards and ongoing performance monitoring.
- Responsible for developing, implementing and achieving KPIs in relation to procurement and inventory matrices.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
