Job Description

DUTIES:

The Russian Press and Outreach Assistant works under the direct supervision of the Press & Media Coordinator, and has no supervisory responsibilities. Monitors Lithuanian Russian-language broadcast, print and online press and media coverage of issues of importance to the U.S. Identifies and advises Mission leadership on strategies for promoting accurate, balanced coverage of U.S. foreign policy and American interests in the Russian-language media; correcting misinformation; and countering disinformation.  Builds productive relationships with Russian language press and media professionals.  Designs and implements public engagement and outreach programs in ethnic minority communities, in coordination with other PD Section staff. 

Requirements

EXPERIENCE:

  • A minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in a media outlet, think tank, university, NGO, international organization, foreign embassy, government office or corporation is required, with responsibility for public relations, public affairs, journalism, communications, marketing, or managing public relations as significant parts of the job.

 

Education Requirements:

  • A university degree in Journalism, Communications, International Relations, Political Science, Economics (or local equivalent) is required.

 

LANGUAGE:

  • Fluent English, Russian and Lithuanian (Writing/Speaking/Reading) is required. This may be tested.
