Senior IT Operations Engineer

Enterprise Command Centre is responsible for the 24/7monitoring of whole Danske Bank IT estate including critical bank systems, applications and IT services and strives to reduce both the duration and impact of outages of systems.

This is a challenging opportunity to join Enterprise Command Centre operation teams.

As an IT Operations Engineer you would have a direct responsibility for keeping all customer-facing services and other critical systems running smoothly. IT Operations Engineers are a blend of pragmatic operators and software craftspeople that apply sound engineering principles, operational discipline, and mature automation to our environments.

Mission:

• Investigate and understand root causes for issues in business operations
• Develop corrective actions to solve the operations issues
• Provide consulting services to solve operations engineering problems
• Ensure operations related activities are performed in compliance with company standards and regulations
• Initiate continuous process improvements to improve operational effectiveness
• Identify and implement cost optimization and reduction initiatives
• Provide technical support and guidance on operations validation, development and implementation
• Provide engineering support to operations team in achieving business goals
• Support the start-up and integration of new operations projects
• Assist in the development and maintenance of operational standards and procedures 

• Think about systems - edge cases, failure modes, behaviors, specific implementations
• Know your way around Linux and the Unix Shell
• Have a strong working knowledge of virtualization and solid understanding of Cloud infrastructure
• Know what is the use of config management systems like Chef (the one we use)
• Have strong programming skills and knowledge of network topologies and configuration techniques
• Are able to communicate effectively with external providers and internal partners, including senior stakeholders
• Have an urge to document all the things so you don't need to learn the same thing twice
• Have an enthusiastic, go-for-it attitude. When you see something broken, you can't help but fix it
• Have an urge for delivering quickly and iterating fast
