Job Description

As our new Software Platform Engineer, you will be part of the Impact Platform team. Unfamiliar with feature flagging and experimentation infrastructure? No problem! Only a few companies manage to successfully scale feature management and experiment execution company-wide at Vinted’s scale, and we are aiming to be one of them. With your help, we can make it happen!

To realise this vision, our Impact Platform provides the foundational infrastructure, self-service APIs, and evaluation tools that enable engineering and product teams to safely roll out, target, and configure experiments across all our applications.

In this role, you will develop software and essential backend tools for our Impact Platform. Your work will be crucial to building a fast, scalable, low-latency, and highly reliable feature flagging and experiment configuration engine. You will enable hundreds of product and platform engineering teams across Vinted to execute experiments seamlessly and innovate at new heights.

  • Build a world-class feature flag and experiment configuration platform (Impact) loved by software engineers, product managers, and decision scientists.
  • Design, develop & maintain high-throughput applications, microservices & APIs for self-service feature flag management, experiment targeting, and variant distribution.
  • Automate the out of everything any part of flag creation, targeting rules, traffic allocation, rollout scheduling, and experiment lifecycle management that can be automated, is automated.
  • Work with Go, or Ruby applications and high-availability platform technologies powering millions of flag and experiment evaluations per second.
  • Take ownership and write clean, easy-to-understand code, contributing to core platform services, sidecars, and developer-facing tooling.
  • Monitor the performance, latency, and reliability (through Kibana, Grafana, Datadog, Prometheus) of our Impact Platform components & services and proactively drive architectural improvements.
  • Grow and share knowledge in feature management, progressive delivery, and high-scale experimentation systems.
  • Collaborate closely with Product Engineering and Data Science teams to provide seamless integrations, runtime evaluation capabilities, and robust APIs for downstream analysis tools.

Requirements

  • A curious individual who wants to learn and master concepts and technologies we use.
  • Knowledge of agile, DevOps & Automation94testing, build, deployment, CI/CD, and platform reliability.
  • Hands-on experience developing and operating backend services or platform infrastructure at scale.
  • Solid software engineering skills, particularly relating to backend/data platform engineering and especially Go & Ruby.
  • Pragmatic approach to problem-solving and a results-oriented mindset.
  • Able to adapt to changing priorities and requirements.

Nice to have

  • Experience building feature management, experimentation platforms, or developer tooling.
  • Prior experience working with Google Cloud Platform and Kubernetes microservices.
