Team lead / Senior Data Engineer

Job Description

  • Build a modern cloud-based data platform from the ground up.
  • Design and implement scalable data pipelines and orchestration processes.
  • Take ownership of existing vendor-managed data flows and gradually migrate them in-house.
  • Design data architecture, engineering standards, and best practices.
  • Build reliable and maintainable cloud infrastructure supporting analytics and AI initiatives.
  • Collaborate closely with Software Engineers, Product teams, and future Data colleagues.
  • Drive technical decisions and contribute to the long-term Data Engineering roadmap.

Requirements

  • Strong commercial experience in Data Engineering.
  • Excellent Python and SQL skills.
  • Experience designing and maintaining modern data pipelines.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
  • Experience with orchestration tools such as Airflow, Prefect, Mage, or similar.
  • Experience working with Git and CI/CD practices.
  • Understanding of modern Data Engineering architecture principles.
  • Ability to work independently and thrive in a greenfield environment.

Nice to have:

  • Experience building data platforms from scratch.
  • Terraform or Infrastructure as Code experience.
  • Experience with Docker containers.
  • AI / ML or LLM exposure.
  • Experience in fintech, banking, or another regulated industry.
