NVD are currently recruiting a HGV Mechanic for their busy in-house maintenance team. This role will suit any experienced HGV Mechanics who wish to take their first step in closing their tool box and moving into a supervisory role.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced HGV Mechanic to maintain a fleet of new Mercedes, Scania and Renault trucks while at the same time, progressing their career in a new, modern, start of the art workshop.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the Workshop Manager with the day-to-day efficient operation of the workshop. The HGV Mechanic will provide front line floor supervision as well as assisting the manager with planning, costing and KPI management. Full supervisory training / management skills training will be provided

Duties and Responsibilities
Carry out staff supervision duties and efficient production continuity in the absence of the Workshop Manager.
Assist the Workshop Manager in the daily supervision and motivation of all workshop staff.
Assist the Workshop Manager, when requested, in the planning, estimation and on time delivery of all project and repair work.
Actively participate in highlighting productivity deficiencies and assist in the implementation of improvements in training, processes and reporting.
Supports all HGV Mechanics and General Operative in inspecting, diagnosing faults/defects, testing, dismantling, overhauling, repairing and re-assembling engines, trailers, related equipment and components.
Supports all HGV Mechanics and General Operative in preventative maintenance checks, services and general maintenance/repairs of fleet vehicles, trailers, related equipment and components.
Provide afterhours breakdown communication / assistance as required on a rostered basis.
Maintain a mindset of continuous improvement in terms of; safe working, workshop and environmental cleanliness.
Be proactive in the technical training of new technical and operative staff.
Assist when requested in the identification and procurement of technical spare parts.
Maintain repair and service records on each vehicle.
Carry out other adhoc duties as required to assist in the delivery of fleet reliability and serviceability targets.
Who we are looking for
The successful candidate will be a qualified mechanical fitter or mechanic and have a minimum of 3 years’ experience working as a mechanical fitter or mechanic. The successful candidate will also possess the following
Electrical & hydraulic experience would be desirable, however training will be provided.
Full, clean Category B driving licence or an equivalent driving license from another country which is valid in Ireland
