API/JAVA ENGINEER

The Job

As API/Java engineer you will drive design and development of Western Union’s global money transfer web and mobile Channel services platform. You will be responsible for continual enhancements of Western Union applications/APIs and platforms, Java/J2EE & java frameworks. You will be working closely with business users and Business Analysts to understand the functionality and propose creative solutions to meet the business need. You will work closely with the application architect to ensure solutions adheres to the architectural vision. In addition, you will cooperate with the application development teams in producing detailed technical design document including integration specs, conduct reviews with key stakeholders and associated tradeoffs. You will partner with employees as well as onsite and offshore vendors for daily scrums and goals, and timelines.

- Experience in Object oriented development including Java / J2EE server application programming (Servlets, Java Server Pages (JSP), JSTL, EJB, JMS, Spring, Hibernate, JPA)
- Expertise in Application/Web Servers (Websphere, WebLogic and Apache Tomcat) on Unix/Windows Platforms
- Experience in relational databases (Oracle, My SQL, DB2, Sybase)
- Good skills in building Web Service applications (using Oriented Architecture (SOA), XML SOAP, UDDL, JAX-WS, JAX-B, SAAJ)
