Data Engineer

Transcom is growing its capabilities within the Business Intelligence portfolio and is looking for a Data Engineer to join the team.
The role of the Data Engineer is to understand, document, design, implement and troubleshoot solutions related to the BI portfolio. The Data Engineer must learn and have a complete overview of the technical set-up of Transcom’s BI platform and connected applications, and must be able to deliver development tasks autonomously, applying high standards of solution cleanliness.
The Data Engineer will be technically supervised and mentored by the BI Technical Lead. The Data Engineer will be required to follow guidelines and standards set be the Technical Lead, and will be required to report technical work to that person.
The Data Engineer role is global, the candidate will be required to work closely with business analysts in different regions (covering North America, Europe and Asia), as well with other technical and operational teams across the organization.

The candidate will be required to:
- Understand business requirements, check feasibility and provide estimates on the required time and effort for the implementation
- Design and document the solutions to be implemented (Technical Design Document, other documentation)
- Propose the best solutions based on the requirements and the available toolkit, with best balance between performance, stability and cost
- Understand and comply with the overall application architecture and strategic technological directions
- Follow development guidelines and processes to be used during BI development tasks

- Degree in Computer Science or related fields
- Fluency in English is a must (both written and spoken)
- SQL knowledge is a must, other programming languages are nice to have (Python, Java, etc)
- Demonstrated experience with Data Services or other ETL tool is a must
- Experience with different databases such as MSSQL, MySQL, Sybase IQ, Oracle
- Experience with visualization tools (Business Objects, OBIEE, Qlik, Tableau, others) is nice to have
- Superb problem solving skills, with an analytical and data driven mindset
- Excellent communication skills and a team player attitude
- Ability to work in a geographically and culturally diverse environment
- Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
- Ability to travel abroad if required and occasional off-hours availability
