DevOps Engineer

The Trading Technology Engineering Team provide an architecture and development function at the infrastructure level for the development Teams within Markets IT as well as being directly responsible for the core market data system. The team is comprised of people with a broad set of technical skills who are ready to tackle the challenges of creating a world class infrastructure that can support the demands of a modern electronic trading organization. In addition to designing and building infrastructure the team also provide 3rd level support in critical investigations and use their expertise to do root cause analysis when required. The market data infrastructure and the price distribution function is a core part of the teams responsibility and it is a critical part of the banks systems and strategy.

Required Competences and skills:

• 4+ years of relevant experience of Software Development Life Cycle, Test Driven Development, Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery.
• 4+ years of relevant experience of developing tools for a DevOps environment.
• 4+ years of relevant experience in Linux / Unix systems administration, provisioning, configuration, monitoring and troubleshooting.
• 4+ years of programming experience in a scripting language (Ruby preferred but Python or Perl accepted).
• 4+ years of experience with Monitoring tools.
• Extensive experience in shell scripting / programming skills, systems automation tools (e.g. FAI, Kickstart, SaltStack, Ansible, Puppet & Chef).
• Expertise in advanced networking subjects (e.g. TCP/IP, BGP, VLAN, Bonding/Trunking, switches, routers & firewalls).
• Working knowledge of virtualization technology (e.g. Hyper-V, KVM, Xen, ESXi & OpenStack).
• Working knowledge of support managed runtimes (e.g. Java).
• Experience with IT projects with a focus on timely delivery.
• Knowledge of common software development life cycles.
• Appreciation of Agile development and project management methodologies and test / behaviour driven development.

Desirable skills:

• Experience in Windows systems administration, provisioning, configuration, monitoring and troubleshooting.
• Working knowledge of Object Oriented Programming.
• Working knowledge of database design.
• Technical certifications in any advanced function such as Virtualization, Networking, Operating Systems, Cloud & Security would be considered beneficial.
• Red Hat Certified System Administrator.
• Proven System Administration experience with Solaris, Linux and Windows.
• Experience with Agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban.
