Head of GPS R&D Department

There will be more than 50 specialists in 4 teams in the GPS R&D department. All of those 4 teams have a team manager position for better internal communication and micromanagement. Your working day will consist of the following functions:

- Managing new product development projects and innovation;
- Set up a strategy for successful new projects or on-going projects within the deadlines, budget, scope and customer’s expectations;
- Understand customer expectations on to-be manufactured product;
- Explore and develop new technologies to integrate into the product and solutions portfolio;
- Determine and execute improved technologies used by suppliers, competitors and customers;
- Plan projects timelines, projects tasks and follow projects through their entire lifecycle using appropriate tools;
- Coordinate and manage R&D department team to achieve assigned projects objectives;
- Maximize the R&D return on investment through effective prioritization and allocation of resources;
- Monitor team metrics and objectives ensuring meeting of goals;
- Monitor and regularly report the progress of projects;
- Recognize and reward performance of the members of R&D department;
- Manage changes in project scope, make adjustments and/or provide alternate solutions if necessary;
- Identify projects risks and manage them.

- Technical education and minimum 5 years at a similar position;
- Strong background and successful experience in electronics, telecommunications or IT projects management;
- Good technical background in software/hardware development and telecommunication technologies (GSM, GNSS, Bluetooth, LTE and etc);
- Great people management skills - interpersonal leadership, coaching, feedback, career development, performance assessments, objective setting, business goal alignment, hiring & disciplinary action as required;
- Ability to ensure quality control and efficient work flow;
- Solid organizational skills including multi-tasking and ability to prioritize effectively;
- Strong Project Management and forward planning skills;
- Ability to effectively convey defined vision on the department level;
- Experience in promoting teamwork, collaboration, continuous process improvement, and an adaptive development environment;
- Ability to display a positive leadership.
