Java Tech Lead

We are looking for a strong, hands-on Java Tech Lead to join the development of a next-generation digital banking platform.

This is not a traditional Tech Lead role with narrowly defined boundaries. You will join the project at an early stage and have a real opportunity to influence architectural decisions, technology choices, engineering standards, and the way the team operates.

What you will do

• Shape the technical direction and architecture of a new digital banking platform.
• Build solutions based on a modern microservices architecture.
• Develop a Backend-for-Frontend layer connecting the core banking system with mobile and web applications.
• Create solutions across payments, retail banking, and digital banking.
• Remain actively involved in hands-on Java development.
• Define engineering standards, coding practices, and technical processes.
• Contribute to DevOps, cloud-native, security, and vendor management decisions.
• Collaborate with product, business, infrastructure, security teams, and international technology partners.
• Introduce modern technologies and best practices while considering financial-sector regulatory and security requirements.

• Strong professional experience in Java backend development.
• Experience as a Tech Lead, Lead Engineer, or Senior Engineer with significant technical ownership.
• A hands-on mindset and willingness to contribute directly to the codebase.
• Strong knowledge of microservices, distributed systems, APIs, and system integrations.
• Experience with Kubernetes and cloud-native environments.
• Ability to make architectural decisions and clearly communicate the reasoning behind them.
• Experience mentoring and supporting other engineers.
• Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience in banking, fintech, payments, or another regulated environment would be an advantage.
• Professional English communication skills.
