Keistuolių teatras — pirmas nepriklausomas profesionalus Lietuvos teatras, įkurtas 1989 metais, vaidinantis vaikams ir ne tik jiems. Keistuolių teatras, „Auksinių scenos kryžių“, profesionalių Lietuvos teatrų festivalių laureatas, per daugiau beveik 40 gyvavimo metų sukūrė daugybę spektaklių, 5 filmus vaikams ir 4 suaugusiesiems, išleido 15 muzikos albumų.
Keistuolių teatras tapo namais daugybei kuriančių ir stebinčių sielų, mokančių atrasti bei perskaityti bendrą keistuoliškumo kodą, nepasiduodantį įprastai kalbai. Ištisoms kartoms kelionė į Spaudos rūmus – nesvarbu, kartą metuose ar kiekvieną rytą, – reiškia sugrįžimą namo vieniems – į vaikystę, kitiems – į saugią vietą, kurioje nebaisu savo keistumo, savo nežinojimo, ar visada pakeliui su tuo, kas įprasta ir normalu pagal nerašytas, bet mažumėlę dusinančias taisykles. Dar kitiems – o tiksliau, keturioms aktorių ir režisierių kartoms, – tai sugrįžimas į kūrybinius namus, į kas kelerius metus vis pasipildantį ratą žmonių, siejamų ne vien darbo ir priešpremjerinio adrenalino, bet ir gyvo, kartais iki skausmo stipraus ryšio, beprotiškiausių idėjų, paliečiančių tekstų, muzikos, meilės scenai, vienų kitiems bei gyvenimui su visomis jo keistenybėmis.
Theatre of the Oddballs is Lithuania’s first independent professional theatre, founded in 1989, performing for children and not only for them. Theatre of the Oddballs, a laureate of the “Golden Stage Crosses” and professional Lithuanian theatre festivals, has created numerous performances over nearly 40 years of existence, 5 films for children and 4 for adults, and has released 15 music albums.
Theatre of the Oddballs has become a home for many creating and observing souls, able to discover and read a shared code of oddness that does not yield to ordinary language. For entire generations, a trip to the Press Palace—whether once a year or every morning—means coming home: for some, to childhood; for others, to a safe place where one is not afraid of one’s own oddness, one’s not knowing, or of not always being on the path of what is usual and normal according to unwritten, but slightly suffocating rules. For still others—or, more precisely, for four generations of actors and directors—it is a return to a creative home, to a circle of people that is replenished every few years, bound not only by work and pre-premiere adrenaline, but also by a living, sometimes painfully strong connection, the maddest ideas, moving texts, music, love for the stage, for one another, and for life with all its oddities.
