Scientist

Position purpose:

We are looking a high performing, dynamic individual who will be part of Research and Development (Process Chemistry) group in Vilnius. You will be responsible for upgrade and optimization of existing manufacturing technologies and development of new ones, using chemical engineering knowledge, lab/ pilot scale equipment and labware; as well as troubleshooting and support of manufacturing groups.

KEY Responsibilities:

• Optimization, upgrade of existing manufacturing technologies of nucleotides and their implementation into routine manufacturing.
• Development of alternative manufacturing strategies (chemical synthesis, chromatographic purification, nanofiltration).
• Participation in process validation activities.
• Investigation and scientific literature analysis related to process development and fundamentals of chemistry.
• Interaction with various groups within the company, including Operations, Quality, R&D and technical personnel to troubleshoot problems and generate new ideas.
• Maintenance of accurate lab notebooks.

Requirements for qualification / Education / Experience:

• BS/MS degree in the field of organic chemistry, chemical engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Proven experience in organic chemistry (biotechnological industry is an advantage).
• On hands experience working in laboratory or industry.
• Solid understanding of principals of nucleotide chemical synthesis, cation/ anion exchange chromatography.
• Good knowledge of labware/ industrial equipment (rotary evaporator, chemical reactors, chromatographic systems, resins and columns).
• Solid understanding of chemical industry in general.
• Experience in ISO 13485 and GMP quality systems is preferable.
