Job Description
The focus of the Senior Engineer - Software Development is the lead design, maintenance and programming of computer systems.
- Develop, maintain and enhance software applications principally written in .NET 2.0/3.5/4.0 (C# and VB.NET). Additionally contribute to development, maintenance and enhancement of applications written in Visual Basic 6.0, C++ and T-SQL (SQL Server 2005)
- Produce and run unit tests for all code changes and actively participate in frequent code reviews to ensure high quality of all changes;
- Participate in the design of new software applications
- Problem solve and debug complex software systems to allow defect analysis and fixing
- Review processes/systems to make better, to automate and streamline
- Participate in mentoring and coaching members of the team to ensure everyone is working to, and improving on, high standards;
- Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience
- Be a subject matter expert with relevant technologies
- Be a key point of contact for the work of project teams
- Work with Head of Department and Team Leaders to contribute to the continuing improvement of the department
- Provide technical consultancy and knowledge support to the wider business
- Manage external third party relationships when needed
Requirements
- Bachelor degree (preferably in IT field) or equivalent
- Experience in software development using Microsoft .NET technologies (C#2.0 or above). Certification in relevant technologies would be an advantage.
- Experience of Object-oriented concepts within Software development
- Experience of writing unit tests and using unit test frameworks
- Problem solving and risk management skills
- Ability to communicate superbly, both with technical and non-technical staff
- Fluent English both written and spoken
